February 3, 2020--Rose Marie McEntire peacefully dies

After we returned from the field trip and had dinner, Lise Carptenter called around 9 PM our time, 11 AM Redmond, WA time, to let me know that Mom had passed away.  Six days earlier Lise and I had agreed that Mom should be moved to an Adult Family Home.  I had compiled a short list of places for Lise to check, but after visiting the first one, Lise felt it was the right place because it had an RN owner who lived there and was available 24 hours/day.  Art, Cameron, Angela, Lise Carpenter and all the Powells helped Mom move, while also getting things in the apartment ready to give away or sell.

On the day Mom moved, she was alert and understood that she was in a new place.  However, the next day she was in tremendous pain and anxiety because she couldn't breath well and was unable to talk or be very responsive with the medication she was taking.  However, on February 2nd she woke up alert and able to communicate.  Art called all the family and those that lived close came to visit and Mom Facetimed with the others.  When I talked with her on Facetime, she knew who I was, smiled at me and talked for about 30 seconds. Later, Lise told me that Mom herself remarked, "It's a miracle that I can talk with everyone".  And it was a miracle and a tender mercy that we all had a last good-bye with her. Here are some great pictures taken the day before mom died.

Mom and Art have a long history of arm wrestling--I love that they had their last match --their way of saying "I love you" and "Goodbye".

Dean Powell (we see his back) is holding Mom's hand, behind the bed is (lt to rt)  Art, Keirnan and Bryson McEntire.

Reed Powell holding his great-grandma's hand.  He also came in the early morning on February 3, just about 3 hours before she died.

Here, Art is holding his phone while I am talking with Mom.
